This is my final piece for the Further Confusion 2014 Art Show. It is almost a tradition that I have a new Rosemary Parker piece in the FC Art Show. In fact there has only been one FC since 1999 that did not have a new piece from my favorite skunk.
Now Rosemary is quite a fan of anime and since she is a professional swimsuit model she has the figure to wear some of the outfits worn by some of the most popular female characters. Also she has the connections to professional seamstresses who make the costumes from the series a reality. Here we see her posing as Yoko Littner from Gurren Lagann link . Although I have no idea how you would piece bind that rifle?
The piece is done in my usual colored pencil, marker, gouache, technical pen on vellum finish Bristol Board. Image size is about 11" x 10". Note I will probably not be doing anymore posting this week since I need to focus my energies on preparing for FC. If you are attending I'll hanging around the Radio Comix table most of the weekend.

I think you meant 'peace bound'.
It is a gorgeous piece and will immediately go into my Rosemary 'fanboy' collection.
Kudos for a wonderful piece of art. And a very grateful 'thank you' for posting this.
To peace bind a rifle like that, standard practice is to lock the bolt in the open position, remove the magazine and insert a heavy zip tie through the magazine well and ejection port. Or in this case, since it's a bolt action, the bolt could be removed.

Yeah, oops!

Yeah some people mention that. I just remember the con where the fellow showed up the hall costume/ cosplay outfit and he had an actual Gothic-style mace as part of the costume. They asked him to peace bind/bound it and he shrugged his shoulders and proceeded to wrap with zip ties from one end to the other. In the end he had a plastic wrapped three pound piece of steel. Don't know if that actually made it any safer but we all got a laugh out of it.

And what is that piece, anyway? I don't recognize it.
Well if you are referring to the rifle it is not based on any real firearm but is deriving from what Yoko carries in the show. However when I was designing this picture I borrowed elements from the EDM Windrunner and the Russian OSV-94. Although I made the action a straight pull instead of a rotary bolt configuration.
