B-17 Flying Fortress 'Nine-O-Nine' warming up her engines in preperation for a flight, with Tondelayo in the background. You have not yet lived until you stand 30 feet away from those engines as they're being run up! (The pic doesn't show it, but the control surfaces of the plane were shaking under the engines' power.)

Nice G model with the chin turret, not many of those around. And that looks like a B-25 mitchell in the background there.

Neither, actually. This was a Collings Foundation 'Wings of Freedom' tour stop at my local airport (Hooks/KDWH)

ahh, we don't have anything like that down here in Aus, the closet thing is Warbirds over Wanaka in New Zealand

Cool! Oh man. This image reminds me of the dozens of air shows I've been to over the years. Nothing like seeing, hearing and getting bathed in the "Prop Wash" of four Pratt and Whitney Turbocharged Radials turning at the same time.

There is but one thing, sir.
Prop wash of four rolls-royce merlin engines humming in sweet unison.

Still however, nothing FEELS like the 17, even it's larger brother the 24 with bigger and more HP engines. It's gotta be all that history along for the ride.

I saw and toured 'Nine-O-Nine', back in the '90s, when they toured out to Portland, Maine . . .
