This is another piece of tech from the A&K-1 dreamscape/universe. It is the fighter aircraft that Twitch is flying against the alien invasion of Earth. While capable of ground attack her squadron is assigned to primarily air defense and reentry interception duties. The aircraft carries most of its ordnances in several internal weapons bays, but additional hardpoints can be added to the wings for increased payloads when stealth is not as much of a concern. Also some weapon systems will not fit the weapon bays so they must be carried on the wings.
This is world where the Cold War has never really ended so defense spending and development never slowed down like it did in the 90's. Also it is a world where several companies that have gone out of business or been merged into larger corporations in our world have stayed in the game. So you still have Republic and Grumman still making stuff and bidding for new contracts.

Yes Martin did get the contract to produce the B57 for the USAF. The British manufacturer was English Electric. The Canberra beat the Martin XB51 for the job, and there were howls of "Not designed or made here!" by some of the brass in the Pentagon and in the boardrooms of various companies of the American aerospace industry.
To my knowledge the aircraft served both the USAF and the RAF very faithfully for serveral decades, and had no more issues or problems than any other aircraft in either countries inventories. One of my sisters served with a squadron in the USAF that flew the RB57 recon models in the 70's and 80's. With the stretched wings they looked vaguely like U2's on steroids!

Yeah I'll admit I don't know how those would survive in a wind-tunnel or a high-alpha attack maneuver, but this what subconscious cooked up so I ran with. Also like most fighter aircraft today it has at least 1:1 thrust with supercruise and all that other cool stuff.
