I dont remember the exact machine gun that one in particular is even though I have seen it before carried by the Aussies on an Australian FOB. Its definately not the M249 that much I am certain.
And yes they are a little crazy there handing someone randomly in suit a machine gun. Oh but those brits are a little crazy. :P
