** This is not the skunk you will receive, it's an example!
The one you get will actually look better, because I'm more experienced now and can do it better.
PRICES:
Pay me for supplies, the pelt if you do not have it, and $25.
- - - Total will likely equal around $175. If you have a pelt, then about $50.
I will also do a lifesize skunk for $60 plus supplies.
- - - Total will likely equal $210. If you have a pelt, then about $100.
Talk to me about squirrels, raccoon, or other small critters if you're interested.

I am curious about deer and obtaining pelts in general. My dad is a hunter and I have experience skinning hides, but don't know if there's a particular way to cut it or if there is anything special you do with it. Typically we scrape them clean, salt them and stretch them out. I don't want to waste the pelts or mess them up. Any advice?
Sorry but I don't skin pelts! I have before and would if I could but I'm not in a place to do so.
You should learn to either do rug cuts or case skin, or if you're doing a cape cut, just save the back hide!
You generally should tan everything too. A lot of people waste deer because they do not want to pay for tanning.

I was researching different ways to do it. So far I've done a cape and a rug cut, but want to learn how to case skin. I have limited hand-on experience (only a couple of times), but have watched my dad do it numerous times. I skinned my first deer, but unfortunately the dog took the pelt and it's ruined. :( I am fascinated by taxidermy and want to learn more.
We don't waste any part of the animal if we can help it. I was sort of horrified to learn most deer hunters waste a lot of the deer because they are too lazy to utilize it, or are too afraid to cut into it (which can ruin the meat if you do it wrong, but still...). I was raised to respect wildlife and their remains, so I'd like to utilize what's left even more.
