Oh yes..there will be mechs...

Making it's first concept design debut for my up and coming canon setting titled, The Cruel Wars, the CKR's current premier scout class BELAM (Bellum = War and Ambulatories = Walking/Walker/Moving) the Type-S Mk II "Hundjager".
Note that this is a concept piece, there's still alot to adjust and spruce up, but as it is this is fairly the look I'm going for with the mechs/BELAM in the canon setting.
BELAM Traits
*Virtually all BELAM save the actual artillery variants will be two legged, the artillery will be four.
*Except the Artillery variants the BELAM will have a tracked mode to switch between (note the tracks on the legs) and an ambulatory (walker) mode.
-The Tracked Mode offers greater speed and also allows the BELAM to traverse over trenches and large defiles in the ground.
-Ambulatory Mode offers greater maneuverability, although only the Destroyer type BELAMs and Scout type BELAMs will have the back canted legs so as to more easily go 'hull down' in defilade and also to transition faster between tracked and ambulatory.
*Save the Artillery types, BELAM have a crew of two; an Operator (Driver/Controller) and the Commander/Gunner.
*Optics and monitor screens (imagine dull colored video like the early cinema and TV shows of the late 50s) are used to allow the crew to actually 'see' outside. An additional two cameras are mounted for the Commander in particular, the CITV and GunCam. (Ignore the open viewing port)
*All BELAM save the heavier Artillery types have autoloaders for their main gun.
*The Scout types mount their main gun usually in the head-turret, although some of the later models switch to the standard arm mounted position for the Medium and Heavy BELAMs.
-The Destroyer variants mount their gun on the central chassis, either a shoulder or even in the top/center of the machine.
*BELAM are powered by Metracyte reactors; one dangerous possibility is that if the reactor fail-safes do not engage properly and the reactor core is breached, incredibly toxic vapor and energy emissions could irradiate the area (and anyone therein) up to 500 meters from the wreck.
*BELAM do carry mounted melee weapons on occasion; the scout variant here has a spike tipped-pneumatic pile driver mounted in one arm.
-BELAMs also may be equipped with specialized weaponry and support systems:
Grenade Launchers
Single Shot TOW launchers (not on all variants)
Disposable rocket artillery launchers (6 tube to 8 tube 210mm or 3 tube 330mm)
S-Mine launchers
Flame Throwers
FLAK Guns (20mm )
Recovery Equipment
*MEDEVAC (rare, but possible)
Infantry Scaffolding (Up to a Squad or two)
*Anti-Infantry MGs (Almost always mounts two, one in the torso and one in the head/turret, some may mount more and a few mount none at all)
*Due to their complicated manufacturing process (mainly the Metracyte reators) as well as the incredible cost most nations have relatively small numbers compared to the standard armored vehicles (no tanks though) and infantry forces at the start of the war and throughout much of it.
-CKR maintains nearly a combined total of 4700 (give or take a few more hundred) BELAMs of various types.
-Most nations use the Artillery type BELAM mostly, although the DH has an affinity for the Destroyer type.
-The AFC maintains a large force of BELAMs, but due to the size of the nation, it's nearly 6000 BELAM units are spread out guarding borders against possible attack, even worse due to a logistical issue only a third of the first 500 Caliphate BELAMs reached the front-lines in Outremar till the end of the first year of fighting.
