Behold, my hero from DC Universe Online, Menkara! Now for some backstory.

Menkara is a living fossil lost from time. His heritage stems during the fabled Hyborean Age--"Between the time when the oceans drank Atlantis and the rise of the Sons of Aryas". It was during this age that Conan the Cimmerian would become a king by his own hand. Taking the jeweled crown of Aquilonia upon his troubled brow, he employed the talents of Menkara's oldest ancestor, Arna, son of Hakon, to be his personal bodyguard and manage his kingdom's guards.

During his time roaming the lands, Conan had made many enemies. Among these was the Nightwitch Sisterhood, a femme fatale of assassins who despised all men. Practictioners of sorcery, they'd planned to bring about the end of the world by summoning their Cat God whose name is lost from history. Their plans had been thwarted by a band of adventurers lead by Conan, and the cult was wiped out...or so he thought. On the night following his coronation, the last remaining member of the Sisterhood sneaked in to the castle with the intent of afflicting Conan with a terrible curse.

A battle broke out between Arna and the assassin in the king's bedchambers. Though the assassin failed in her mission to curse her king, the woman used the dart intended for Conan on Arna instead. Before she escaped, she uttered the nature of the curse bestowed upon him. During the eve of Arna's 30th year, he would be changed forever into a servant of her god with an insatiable thirst for blood. Only death would spare him and this curse would pass on to his children and his children's children and so on until there were none left in his lineage.

Fearing for his life and the life of his king, Arna went into exile desperate to seek a cure for himself...or to find a way to continue his lineage should he fail. He would succumb to the ravenous form of a cat creature before seeing his first and only born child. And so several generations passed, each one closer to discovering a cure than the last. It was Menkara, son of Jeran, who would secure a means of overcoming their curse. Using entire generations of accumulated alchemy from his family line, Menkara was able to find a way to nullify the effects of the curse by connecting himself to the Green--a plane of existence that connects all plant life on Earth. Though it would not halt the metamorphosis, his mind and soul would remain intact and the worst aspects of the curse purged from him. The process, however, would take several milennia. Upon entering the Green, Menkara entered a catatonic state which he would not emerge from until the late 20th century.

Awakening in modern day ukraine, Menkara emerged a verdant cat man with power over plant life and amazing physical prowess and durability. After an awkward start, Menkara adapted to the changes of the world and took to his new duty as a protector of the Green. From his arboreal stronghold in the Amazon, the Botanica, Menkara fights alongside other heroes to fight evil and maintain the balance of Nature against those who would do harm to it.
