I used to do a bunch of stuff with charcoals, but it's been a long time since I've used them for anything. So, I decided to dust off the 'ole charcoal box and do a little something something for one of my best buddies for Christmas. I did this back in december, and I don't know why I'm just now getting around to uploading it...
Anyway, this is a charcoal on heavy mixed-media paper featuring

It was really interesting to mix the traditional techniques and more realistic approach I normally take with these types of things with the more cartoony style I use for my anthro furry work here on the site.

Working with charcoal isn't EXACTLY drawing as most people understand it. It's more about filling in the spaces AROUND what you want to depict than it is actually drawing what you're looking at or seeing in your mind. Kinda backwards thinking, really. Fun and challenging.
