Some 120+ hours later on the one picture that has officially taken the most time, overtaking my longstanding record holder of 10 years "Dragons of the World" which clocked at 93 or so hours. This is my latest, complete pantheon, my collection of 15 Forces (of which I'm probably going to default to calling the 'white interpretation of racist stereotyping' group because that's basically what it looks like, and it's definitely what the naming conventions sound like). Left to right by title: Storm, Sol, Summer, Verdue, Guardian. Basically, all humans, with the exception of the center pair who have very limited, if no capacity to look as such. Things in the back are well, the same characters except a bunch load more fun. Drawing the creepy Incan lava monster was especially fun.
As it goes, new pantheon for me means new story, which goes with the main character, Fatality. I decided to actually visualize the group since the personalities of a lot are borrowed off of existing personalities from my other writing arcs and this helps me with distinction. It also helps with identifying physical characteristics that I might otherwise avoid writing down. Fashion is kind of subject to change, but probably within their personal styles. Wasn't really going to overtly emphasize expressions or natures of any particular individual since while they are are all to themselves, as a group they're pretty old and not really the types to automatically default to excessive outbursts unless provoked. The more true Force forms (with the exception of 02 and Fatality) were a standard cluster of things from bestiaries which tend to represent more or less an element or a key function, which is more obvious when combined with the names.
Despite what this looks like, I didn't use a lot of layers, it just took tremendous amounts of time. This is a straight CG with the exception of very basic gesture guide, and references were used where needed when it came to outfits, and in most cases ethnic traits. Fastest panel was 02 due to its black hole form and the pure black primary one. Longest likely went to my favorite panel in this group, which is Summer's. Particularly like hers the most, from her hair, to her expression to the fire bird. While O2 is simplistic, I admittedly dislike Autumn's panel. Can't draw eagles and the further comment was, 'He looks "Amish"'. Can see the spots throughout this image where I didn't want to try, so Eve's collar for example. Think I may have tried too hard for Eon's lesser human form, mostly since it's hard to make it obvious he's sub-human but at the same time not like a completely messy, charcoal covered slob with sunburns that defines way too much of said depictions, and that along with adding obvious human intelligence in the face. Over-thought that one. Other than that, despise doing panel images since they're a cop out, but frankly I wasn't going to do 13 full images here (02 and Fatality already have a few). If anything, other than trying to draw different ethnic groups, was that I actually drew a variety of men. Have to drag me kicking and screaming to draw guys usually, but I actually enjoyed it even more so than drawing the girls!
All being said, just glad to finish this image and to move on to other things.
