I'm trying to branch out a bit and learn how to draw females, and this is where I'm at. There's a few issues I'm trying to overcome:
1)Figuring out the lower body.
Hips and anything below are beyond me at this point in time. The legs in particular look weird as hell in this one :c.
2)How breasts sit and hang on the chest.
I want to go for a more natural look, but not having any makes it difficult to guess how they work. I try to use refs, but I'm unable to transfer what I learn from studying a picture to different poses- it's infuriating.
3)Female facial features.
I get that making them less angular and pronounced gives a more feminine look, but the curves are hard for me to pull off.
Uh, I purposefully made the torso way long in this one because I figured cat people would be more slinky...females being even more so. I detailed out the major muscle groups and added super simple highlights so you guys know what I was working with when I built the character. Hopefully, that helps you see what I see and gives an idea of where I'm stuck at!
Oh yeah! I threw on the paper texture because it made it look like renaissance furry smut, and I thought that notion was hilarious. Lionardo Davinchi, furartist extraordinaire~! The mohawk is definitely not in-period though.
Any help you guys can give me would be MUCH appreciated! Will move to scraps once it leaves the front page.

I think I see what you're getting at. I was having a ton of issues with the ankle bit, but lengthening that and studying the muscle group more to ease the transition from the upper bit might be what I need to underp it.
The tricky part for me is lengthening it too much and risk making my cat people look like they cross-bread with a spidermonkey. I want to keep the lengthened torsos, but if the relationship between them and the legs is too strong to overcome I may have to just toss it and deal. Thanks for your input dude!

It actually looks pretty good. IANA-Artist, but I would say that the shape is pretty good. The breast looks a bit far to the outside (character's left), but that's probably because of the twist she's doing in her spine. You have the shape pretty well on, as far as I can tell. Rounded on bottom, fairly linear on top. That seems right to me, as far as I can tell.
On the lower end, I think making the legs a little more slender would help, too. Not all women have legs up to their neck, but they aren't as muscular as men, even if they are as strong. But keep in mind the "child-bearing hips." Her rump and hips should be a bit broader than a man's. Consider the weight distribution: a man's center of gravity is in the upper torso, because the greatest mass is in his chest, giving him great arm strength. A woman's center of gravity is in her hips, because the greatest mass is actually in and around the uterus. (I've heard it said the fastest way for a woman to lose thirty pounds is to have a hysterectomy.)

Oh wow, lot's of stuff to respond to!
"The breast looks a bit far to the outside..."
Y'know, I thought the same thing. Right now I picture them being connected to/hanging from around her clavicle just inside of her shoulder, but perhaps if I made the breast smaller and, like you said, drew it up closer to the body a bit it would help fix this issue.

She does have a bit of too much power down there right now. Combining what you and Draco told me, I think lengthening the ankle slightly and slimming down the build would help a bit with the awkwardness. Legs are a definite weak point for me right now because I have a lot of difficulty balancing my characters...and thus avoid drawing them standing as much as possible :<. I'll work to fix that!

Everything you said here was incredibly useful! I never considered center of gravity and mass distribution differences between the genders, but it makes so much sense for that to be the case. I'll play with the concept more and work on improving, but the change in perspective you gave me was exactly what I was hoping to find by posting this on FA. Props dude!

Following Tora's suggestion for more dynamic poses, you can also try pin-ups, since they feature a wide range of interesting poses (and are a bit safer to look at in public ). This is the gallery I like to use since there's a huge variety of artists and styles: http://www.thepinupfiles.com/AKGallery.html
http://www.posemaniacs.com/ is also pretty awesome since there are multiple camera angles for each pose and you can see how each muscle group is behaving.
