The 1974 International truck I was helping my dad on Saturday evening when it caught fire. He forgotten to reconnect the fuel line to the fuel that and when he poured gas into the engine's carburetor while pumped the gas pedal, gas was being poured all over the engine and when I turned the key a few times there were a few small flames before it became one big inferno!!
My dad used our Bobcat skid loader and dumped a few buckets of snow onto the engine in order to put out the fire. He thinks that in next spring he can fix it up and get it running again, which I highly doubt it. It would probably be sent to the junk yard.
Also in case you're wondering, it's a total rust bucket and has a LOT of rust on it. The truck bed is missing several sections and you can see where the fuel tank is, the passenger side interior floor panel has small sections where it has completely rusted out. And the driver seat was once used as rat's nest and will post photos for you to see for yourself.

I had a deal like that with my uncle and his old chevy truck it had been sitting for two years and he was wanting to move it so we put a battery in it and I turned the key it fire up he started yelling I saw flames up near the windshield I killed the motor and ran 200 feet to the barn and found a 5 gallon bucket of rain water and poured it on the fire and put it out.
But after replacing hoses and spark plug wires and belts we had the old turd running again.

Good to hear you got the truck going again, but my dad has officially (for now) of making it a parts truck. Real shame really, all it needs is new hoses, belts and plug wires along with new brakes, new truck bed and some work on the left hood hinge is a lot of rust.
What year was the Chevy truck?
