There is nothing wrong with not caring about stuff.
There is also no reason that you have to vote (I'm guessing what you mean is pressure from other people around you). Voting changes nothing anyway.
But I guess it is important to have some stance on something, even if it's just your own self interest. I'm an anarchist because of moral reasons; the government is based on force, and is thus wrong to support. Doesn't really matter what comes after it.
Do you really not care about anything at all?

its not that i dont care, as such, its just that i dont know enough about most things to have an opinion, if that makes sense
and i dont want to be an apathetic voter at all. the only things i know im happy about (about changes in the law in my country) is that we now have a opt-out system for organ donation after death, and that gay marriage is legal
what ive been told is that thats what i should base my views on (self interest, i mean)! my friends have said to me that if im not sure what political opinion to take i should just go with the one which is best for me and my area! i guess it is simpler that way

Well, that is admirable; most people who are ignorant just make up shit instead of acknowledging their ignorance (pretty much sums up any religious debate I've had).
I guess the best piece of advice is to do research on whatever topic you might care about but feel ill-informed about.
But is this ignorance just a towards politics? There are plenty of people who don't care at all about politics, and there's nothing wrong with that. Voting doesn't really matter anyway, and sometimes isn't even counted correctly (like with hanging chads and vote rigging).
I'd really like to share https://www.freedomainradio.com to ya; it has all kinds of topics on it centered around philosophy (real philosophy, the study of what is true and what isn't).
