I know Silva & Aegis was designed from a fan. This entry was in the very same contest. It didn't get picked though.
This weapon is a tribute to an old melee weapon used by the Grineer, it isn't supposed to be ranged. Not even sure why you would suggest it to be capable of range anyway.
