Guess what video game I have been hooked on lately.
Yep. Star Fox Adventures.
Yeah, I’m well aware it wasn’t another arcade-style rail shooter, but in my honest opinion, I feel that Star Fox Adventures is a classic in its own right. I know that the game wasn’t perfect, but it still has a lot of great qualities. For one thing, it was nice to see the franchise go in another direction so it doesn’t remain stagnant, the controls were always responsive and the graphical qualities, especially considering it was a game made for the Nintendo Gamecube in 2002, were very impressive—the characters had a graphical rendering that they looked very realistic, but at the same time they possessed enough cartoonish qualities so that it had its own charm. It almost looks like I would want to reach into the screen and feel the characters’ fur.
Then there was another addition that I feel was welcome—the exotic, super hot blue vixen Krystal.
I will admit that the first time I saw her on the game’s box art, no joke, I was in love with her. I don’t know if this is my history with art training or just my inner romantic talking (maybe it’s both!) but I can go into feature detail on why I was crazy about from day one.
Obviously she is hyper beautiful, exotic and divine, she seems like the sweet romantic type. I know that she is intended to be a love interest for Fox McCloud, but I feel there are some deeper aspects of why I, and so many others, especially in the U.S.A., Canada and Europe, are wild about her.
When you go through the Krazoa palace to relink the planet together, said palace is mysterious yet alluring; don’t tell me the music that they played didn’t seem subliminally romantic. If the Krazoa palace is just that, a palace, that would make Krystal a temple. When you see her for the first time trapped and in need of aid, there is a cheesy but fitting saxophone interlude with plays and seems to be a way to emotionally involve us with Krystal’s danger and Fox’s desire to want to know her better. I will admit that I am using said music as a ringtone for my new phone.
Like I said, she is supposed to be a love interest for Fox, but I feel like I am supposed to identify with him and don’t blame him for falling for her. Seeing Fox romantically involved with a lady who I admittedly find extremely sexy also feels like I can feel in my heart exactly how I am supposed to react and push my desire to know Krystal as her lover.
Lest you think I’m just gushing on my furriness, it’s true. In my experience playing home console video games, usually you play the game using a controller with a D-Pad and action buttons, and they make use of your thumb. Little health fact is after you do some exercise and you want to check your pulse by feeling that part of your neck, you usually use your index and middle fingers. You can also use your ring finger and pinky as well, but is there a reason you don’t use your thumb? There is, your thumb does have its own pulse rate!
That is the reason why for this pic, Fox is looking at her with his eyes fully dilated. Spiritually I am connected to Fox and love my Krystal unconditionally. If she was to glomp me like so… it would be the start of something beautiful and I don’t think I would know how happy would be. Hence the reason Fox has tears in his eyes.
Like how the sight of a Christmas tree is compelling and a sight to behold, that would mean Krystal is the star on the very top.
Looking at this pic, I tend to think a fitting song to establish their bond is “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” which was performed by Elton John for The Lion King (which happens to be one of my absolute favorite movies). It's right here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y1hcc1QvM2Q
NOTE: I own nothing except this artwork. I am just a big fan who would love to see a cherished video game series find its way into American pop culture osmosis. And yes, I signed the petition to feature Krystal as a playable character in Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo Wii U and 3DS. It’s right here: http://www.change.org/petitions/nin.....r-the-wiiu-3ds
Hope you like the pic and find my thoughts meaningful!
