A relatively recent quickie of my character Aldebarin Gix, who is part-drow, part-Lovcraftian demon, and just happens to have been born without any eyeballs. This got him tossed out into the Underdark as a baby by his father, who's even more demonic than Aldebarin. Typically, this would be a death sentence, but, not for a baby half-demon found by Illithids, who appreciated his unique nature and natural psionic talents, and raised him as their own amongst their culture. This training, in conjunction with his inherent abilities, allowed him to dominate a beholder, which he utilizes as his eyes, and is a constant companion. At this point, the domination magic is no longer necessary, and he shares a full symbiotic relationship with his "pet".
