PREVIEW: Your mind is mine in this Mine!
Your mind is mine in this Mine!In a deep mine located in a mountain in the far north of the region, a large group of Pokemon were hard at work. Some were using tools to dig in the hard rocks and walls while others, primarily the larger ones, were pushing mine carts across some tracks filled with a sparkling collection of various coloured jewels, diamonds and other beauties. Every one of the workers had blank and emotionless facial expressions and were all wearing matching uniforms.
The uniforms were purple and covered their torso and legs. They were decorated with a vertical pattern of yellow circles and two fat yellow lines on either side, just around the collar. Around their necks was a lengthy silk scarf with a thick stripe of red at the top and white everywhere else. A black badge was sewn to the top right of the uniform; it was in the shape of a head with around six tentacles coming out of it. Two thin diagonal lines were in the middle, looking very similar to a pair of eyes.
Overlooking the entire area was a shack where a mysterious figure stood on the wooden balcony, glancing down at all the workers. The observer was the Pokemon Malamar; the bipedal squid-like Dark/Psychic type from the region of Kalos. His name was Deviosis – a fitting name for someone of his ominous appearance and manipulative personality. His species were noted of having the strongest hypnotic force of all Pokemon, even conquering the likes of Hypno, at least according to the Poke’dex. Deviosis was far from the exception with brainwashing talents that could rival even professional hypnotists.
A male Blaziken sporting the same attire as the mindless workers walked up and saluted. “Master Deviosis, we have received reports of an intruder.”
“Another one?” Deviosis inquired, his voice having a vaguely suave tone. “This is becoming most tedious. Monty, go with Tasogare and Starlight and welcome our guest or guests in the usual fashion,” he then ordered, turning around to head into the shack. “I trust you won’t take that long. We do have far more important matters to tend to.”
Monty saluted again, his body posture straightening up. “You can count on us, Master Deviosis! We shall not let you down!”
Instead of heading down the steps, the loyal Blaziken minion leaped over the edge of the balcony. He jumped down from rock to rock and reached the bottom in no time at all without sustaining any damage. Monty walked over to a male Lucario pushing a mine cart with assistance from a male Charizard and female shiny Dragonite, tapping him on the shoulder as he passed by. Without the two exchanging any words, they headed over to a shiny Victini dusting dirt off a recently discovered gemstone.
“Starlight, Master Deviosis wants us to deal with a newly discovered intruder,” the Lucario named Tasogare explained.
Starlight nodded and got to his feet. After placing the cleaned gem inside a passing mine-cart, he followed his fellow cohorts out of the cavern. The trio walked alongside one another, their pace almost equal. They all glanced around at the surroundings to see if they could see any signs of the reporter intruder. Unfortunately for them, a huge percentage of the cave was gigantic and covered in pitch black areas.
“No sign yet,” Starlight noted, coming to a sudden stop. “If it’s alright with you two, I shall check over here.”
“We have no objections,” Tasogare spoke, adding in a nod of consent. “Monty and I shall search the entrance to the mines.”
As the two taller Pokemon walked away, the youthful Victini headed further into the darkened parts of the cave. He held out his hand in front of him and summoned a ball of light. This was his special and unique way of using Flash. With the help from the shining sphere, Starlight could see more clearly as he searched the lightened area, making sure to check behind rocks and look down crevices. All of a sudden, he caught something move swiftly in the corner of his eye.
“Who is there?” Starlight shouted out, swirling around to face the opposite direction. “Whoever you are, you will not escape!”
The Victini lobbed his glowing ball into the air and it exploded into a bright flash of light. In the brief period of the cave being engulfed in luminosity, Starlight saw a Luxray running away from him. The intense shine got the attention of Monty and Tasogare; both of which also caught sight of the intruding Electric-Type.
“There he is!” Monty exclaimed before he started his pursuit. “Remember, Tasogare, do not harm him. Master Deviosis deplores such tactics.”
Tasogare nodded and ran alongside the Blaziken, matching his speed. “Understood,” he replied. “Master Deviosis’s orders must be followed to a t.”
The unknown Luxray skidded to a stop and turned around to face them while he leaped up into the air, his cheeks sparking. He growled and let out a Discharge which struck everything in the vicinity, powerful enough to destroy most of the rocks. The servants of Deviosis simultaneously held out their arms in front of their faces and tried to stand their ground, each taking the full force of the electrical assault.
“Back off!” the Luxray snarled, his body surging with an intimidating electric current. “I am here to stop whoever is ordering you around!”
“You are an arrogant fool, Leo,” Monty spoke, lowering his arms. His body was damaged by the Discharge, yet he didn’t seem effected by it. “Master Deviosis shall not be stopped.”
“Wait, is that you, Monty?” Leo inquired, his eyes and voice showing surprise. “I didn’t recognize you in that stupid suit! What the heck is wrong with you?!”
“There is no time for questions, only action,” Tasogare answered, calmly making his way over to Leo. He too had battle damage which didn’t hinder him in any noticeable way.
Starlight, being much younger than the other two, had been knocked off his feet. He groaned and pushed himself up into a sitting position. “My head...” After another moan, he stood up and glared at his assailant. “You should learn proper respect. Master Deviosis will show you how to behave.”
“You are all starting to freak me out. This better not be some sort of crazy game,” Leo commented, a classic sweatdrop running down the side of his face.
When Tasogare attempted to snatch up Leo, the Luxray hastily jumped to the side to evade. However, his tail was grabbed and he was thrown into Monty’s claws.
This is just a preview of what is to come in 2014. It may not surprise you, but Malamar is one of my fave Pokemon of the new generation of Pokemon.
