Growing older, Cassie eventually evolves into a Houndoom. While her body changes, her personality also takes a turn, changing from the spunky and mischief-causing Houndour into a more serious and sympathetic Houndoom. There's much to be written about Cassie, a lot that I can't even include here in her description to do her justice, but a few things can be certain. One, Cassie continued to hold feelings for Matthew. Two, even after denial, Cassie continued to protect him, and watch over him as she and Matt journeyed to the far north in search of the evil found only in their dreams. Three, Cassie never held strong ties with Ranger, and those ties never grew much stronger even after an extended period of time together. And four, Cassie developed a sense of worry and sympathy for those around her, revealing that Cassie was much more sensitive an individual than what others may have thought.

The self-righteous Houndour grew to be a constant worrier and care taker for Matt, and as the voice of reason between herself and Ranger (who joins their journies at the last moments before departure). Despite her tough exterior, Cassie is incredibly sensitive to the thoughts and feelings of others. She can "read minds," so to speak, and has a very strong understanding of how other Pokemon--and humans, think and operate. Her incredible talent to recognize danger before it happens comes as a product of her involvement with the Atchiko Tribe, a tribe of Houndours and Houndooms located deep within the mountains, and far away from human civilization. She never stops loving Matt, and only looks for his smile to reassure her that he is going to be okay... and things are going to be alright.
