This here is a Timber Rattlesnake. A native of the USA, and a very venomous snake. They, like all rattlesnakes, get their name due to the rattler on the end of their tails. They are ambush predators, meaning they will hide and wait for prey to get close to them. Once in striking range, the rattler lashes out, biting and poisoning it. The rattlesnake doesn't hold its prey after the initial bite. Instead, it lets it go, and tracks it down when the prey dies. IF threatened, the rattler uses the rattle on its tail to warn others to keep back. The venom they possess is rather potent enough to kill people.
