Casandra chose Rooth and Sharith (new character of mine, designed with minimal input by Skulldog) for this desert night piece. The desert is Rooth's spirithome, where he goes to recharge, to absorb heat, and to view the stars absent any skyglow from inhabited cities. This particular night he has a passenger, warming herself up by cuddling up to the mane. Perhaps she's not from these parts, and isn't used to the chill that can set in even on summer nights in the desert. Or perhaps she's just being affectionate. Hard to say for certain.

The paintlery style of the background is pretty neat. I think the lighting effect nicely captures that dusty desert feel on a breezy night in this landscape..

And I must say, I never got such exuberant adoration for one of my characters as Casandra had for Sharith. Apparently she's great fun to draw, and I suspect Casandra wouldn't turn down another chance to draw her. :) This makes me want to add Sharith to the regular line-up and see if anyone else has as much fun with her? Some have liked drawing Rooth in the past, because he is pretty simple, or because they've seen him around a lot and hoped for a piece of the commission pie. But they've never actually said he was "so much fun to draw". Sharith must have some special magic!

Sharith is a brand new character, her background and personality are very much a blank slate. But I imagine we'll see more of her in the future. :) For a close-up shot, see http://www.furaffinity.net/view/10672104/
