Her eyes gazed into his, a soft black void of pure joy.
He could not bring himself to look away from her, lost in the gaze she locked with him.
Slowly she would press her lips against his, wrapping her arms around him so he could not pull away.
Was it bliss? Or was it heaven? He did not know, nor did he care.
He was happy.
Slowly Kitsune's eyes opened, the soft red glow that emanated from the usually hate-filled eyes was quite docile now. An almost extreme change to his usual demeanor.
That was one of the first times in a long time that he had actually slept well. His nightmares had not visited him and he felt only peace right now. A feeling that he felt was all too rare to him nowadays, wishing to have it visit him much more often. He shook his head silently sitting up rubbing his head lightly. Then his thoughts turned towards what had transpired in his dream, eliciting a small blush from his cheeks.
He had dreamed about Lillymon. His eyes widen very faintly but he shook his head. He felt...strange having dreamed about someone he had just met. It felt strange yet....pleasant. He couldn't really describe how he felt about it and he doubted he ever would be. His mind had such ways of mixing him around that at times he felt it was better to simply follow instinct over intellect.
Looking up now, he would notice it was still night-time. Strange, he hadn't even slept that long...usually when he slept, he would always sleep for a full eight hours...or until his dreams awoke him that is.
"It's quite a beautiful night out is it not?" Kitsune nearly jumped at the sound of the soft voice. He immediately relaxed however once he noticed it was Lillymon, sitting a little ways away from him. How had he not noticed her? Was he truly not paying any attention at this point? Or perhaps it was due to how calm an relaxed he felt...regardless he simply nodded his head in response sitting back down leaning back a bit.
"Indeed....it's quite peaceful here." His voice had lost it's cold tone almost entirely, something that brought a smile to the Lillymon's face. However he had not noticed, simply staring up at the moon to distract himself from the female digimon. She slowly shuffled over to him now, sitting down beside him. His ears twitched lightly but he made no motion to look over at her, instead keeping his gaze upwards to the moon.
She then did something quite unexpected...she laid her head upon his shoulder softly, closing her eyes. His eyes widened faintly at this motion, turning his head to look down at her. She had not opened her eyes to look up at him, seeming extremely content where she was. He could not bring himself to move her at all. She seemed far too happy and...dare he say it...cute? He shook his head softly and surprisingly, found his paw raising up to softly stroke along the petals of her head as softly as he could manage it. This enticed a small sigh of pleasure from Lillymon as she only seemed to snuggle ever closer to him. Making a small blush rise within him more then ever.
Why did he not move her? Why did he not simply stand up, or do anything he normally would? Was it because of how kind she was? Was it his mind constantly preventing his body from moving? Or was it something else entirely...? He shook the thought from his mind, quite content where he was.
"I'm glad you came here Kitsune...we never get visitors and...your so kind..." She snuggled her head against his shoulder as she said this, making his blush rise evermore, wondering why thought he, of all people, seemed kind...He was no fool, he was harsh and cold, he preferred it that way though, he didn't really like company more often then not. Yet she made him feel...utterly peaceful, how he wasn't quite sure. It was as if her mere presence made thoughts of his past seem not only irrelevant, but far away as well. It was most pleasing.
"I'm not kind milady. I'm simply me." His response should have sounded cold, it should have had no emotion to it, yet it was filled with a tone of comfort and one of longing, as if reaching out for something...someone. Lillymon let a soft giggle escape her lips. How beautiful that sound was, he wished he could hear it more. Reluctantly however, he felt obligated to go and check on Zenel. As tedious as it would be, and as comfortable as he was, he simply had to make sure the Renamon was fine and hadn't managed to hurt herself more by falling out of bed.
And so he gently removed Lillymon's head from his shoulder before standing up now reluctantly. Stretching and not noticing the frown that came upon her lips as he did. Once up he turned towards the cottage, but first he turned his head towards Lillymon. "My apologies...but I must check on my luggage that I brought here to make sure she's alright." Lillymon said nothing, yet something seemed off. Her eyes almost begged him to stay there with her, and honestly, he was quite tempted to do so. But he shook his head lightly and now walked up to the cottage, with Lillymon sitting in the grass in utter silence.
He pushed his way past the doors to the cottage, walking inside, letting his eyes gaze up towards the stained glass windows of the Goddess Pervigeo. He let his gaze stay upon it before he noticed something rather....off about it.
Though the woman was serene and looked to be praying, all others around her in the picture that he could see were utterly terrified...some were even...dead? His ears twitched as he noticed this, wondering why such a picture of a "Goddess of Bloom" would dictate such death and fear? Was it a Goddess that had demanded tributes and such....
His eyes widened immediatley now. how had he not noticed before...none of the people he had seen in the village had said so much as a word to him or Zenel besides Lillymon and....Lemna...
He hadn't even noticed before...the similarities between Lemna and the Goddess were almost too uncanny. Was it more then coincidence? It was at this point he immediately tried to calm himself down. He couldn't just overthink any of this. It all could have just been coincidence. He was naturally cold so people not approaching him should never be a surprise...and the appearances could simply be coincidences...but...then what of the window?
He shook his head now making his way towards Zenel's room, he had only come in here to check up on her, not intending to stay in there a moment longer then he really needed to.
Once inside he made his way towards the bed, his eyes widening once he saw the bed, but Zenel missing from it. His eyes scanned the entire area quickly and accurately, yet he could not spot her. As he looked, a bright light emanated from the hall. He lightly covered his eyes but quickly followed the light now rushing out looking around. From what he saw it was currently coming from Lillymon's room. He wasted no time in jumping up the stairs easilly, rushing through the open door now. Fully intent on saving his "luggage" from whatever must be going on.
The sight before him,, was far more then simply strange.
In front of his eyes, Zenel was held against a large white tree that had tendrils wrapped around her body, preventing even the slightest movement. There were also 2 more tendrils that seemed to directly connect themselves into her neck, the 2 of them were what made the bright light he saw before...yet what was happening?
"Kitsune...please leave..." He turned his head to the soft voice that spoke, only to see Lemna sitting in a small puddle of white water. Wearing a translucent and beautiful kimono, much like the one that the Goddess wore in the window. Kitsune narrowed his eyes to her shuffling his feet quickly ready to make a break for Zenel when he had the chance, wondering exactly was going on.
"What is going on here....?" He gave her a small snarl, to which Lemna only lowered her head in silence. Then behind her, a large plant-pod appeared, slowly opening to reveal a decrepit and horribly aged old man. He looked as if death should take him at any moment, that even breathing should be a laborous chore for him. Yet he seemed....asleep...or perhaps dead...?
"My grandfather is needed in our village...and I still need him with me....I will not let the fates take away more of my family..I've already lost my mother and father to sickness...I'll not lose my grandfather the same way!" Tears fell down the young woman's face as she spoke, her heart must have been quite broken for her to be doing what she was doing. "W-without a sacrifice....m-my Grandfather won't be returned to me...and all...all our crops will die! We'd have to leave our home!" Kitsune's piercing red eyes narrowed at this. So that's what this was all about. The reason everything seemed so perfect...their deity protected and nourished the village...but only if it gave out a tribute to the Goddess. He let his eyes wander to the giant white tree that held Zenel, the tree itself must be some form of digimon, or worse that somehow connected itself to the foliage in and around the village, thus able to nourish, or deplete said foliage. But he then returned his gaze to Lenma.
"Sorry...but I'm responsible for her. I can't simply let you take her life." With this he let a sword of ice be made in his hands, rushing over towards the white tree, intending to sever it's tendrils and free Zenel. Lemna's eyes widened immediately, giving out a harsh scream.
"NO YOU CAN'T!!!!! PLEASE!!!!" Her pleas went unnoticed by him as he brought his sword down, but before it could make contact, he was slammed harshly against the wall with a harsh solid force. Upon being forced to the wall however, he had managed to slice away one of the tendrils at Zenel's neck, making a strange womanly screech emanate loudly from the tree.
Kitsune shook his head to clear the stars, looking over to see it was Lillymon who had slammed him into the wall. His eyes widened, but he let out a snarl now towards her, she had no emotion in her eyes as she stared towards him, keeping him pressed to the wall, his sword stabbed into the wall making it quite useless.
"You won't stop it Kitsune...I cannot let you..." She had nothing in her voice, no joy, no hate, it was all empty, it shocked him almost but he kept his glare constant. He pressed himself against the wall and brought his legs back, flipping them up to stomach level before doing a forward donkey kick into Lillymon's stomach, managing to force her off of him as he stared her down. Her wings fluttering as she gazed at him emptilly. He was loathe to admit it, but he had to get past her and save Zenel.
"Get out of my way." He got into a stance, his eyes glowing more then usual. Lillymon gave no response simply staring him down. He scoffs quietly before he undoes the cloak around his waist, throwing it off of him. Once he had removed it, a bright light slowly starts to emanate from his body. Immediately Lillymon's eyes widened, and Lemna had to immediately cover her eyes now from the bright light. There was only one thing that Lillymon knew this could be...but yet it should not be...
