Holy guacamole I am so excited. SO EXCITED! Do you see how awesome this is turning out? Do you SEE how much nicer this is than my first version a year ago? Oh man.
So! Resin mask. I can't remember if it's 65D or 325. The horns are the exact same horns in my "one year of progress" picture, but I am going to paint them a deeper orange. (They are super yellow in these photos, but IRL they are just kind of a lame shade of orange). The ears are worbla covered insulation foam. I had to be very gentle heating the worbla on the foam, because the foam doesn't like heat very much. There's a little bit of worbla in the mouth, too. Gosh I wish that miracle material wasn't so expensive.
The bottom right picture is an idea for hair. It is literally a whole pack of wefting stuffed under a silk scarf. I originally drew her hair being tucked behind her ears, but the horns are much more forward than I expected. The hairline is further back than the horns a little bit, so bringing the hair around the horns looks really weird. With the scarf/headband, I can go lazy on the hairline, and cover up where the ears meet the mask. I pulled a little hair out from underneath the scarf onto the face. I like it a lot, so I will definitely do something like that on the finished mask. Maybe all asymmetrical comin' from one side? Yea. Scarf color! Turquoise? Purple? I dunnooo!
So what's next? I have to permanently affix the ears and horns to the mask after I finish them up all nice. (Not looking forward to smoothing out the Worbla...) Then I'm gonna add a bullshit ridge around the horns to cover up the little gaps. There are some micro bubbles on the front of the muzzle I gotta fill in. Then it's painting time, I guess! Man I am so excited.
