Shorter people have better center of balance being closer to the ground or whatever they're on x3
Braid bearding is prolly like to keep it under control rather than ragtag loose beard getting everywhere. That's a general thing for long hair or long beards in physically demanding areas, is to keep it tied, braided, or just cut.
