Although I would have loved to spend more time in the fortress, sun was about to set, and I had to go back to Boulaouane before the last grand taxi left. Since it was impossible to find transportation around the fortress, crossing the shallows was the only option to get back to Boulaouane before it was too late.
I found two species of Narcissus, N. cavanillesii and N. serotinus, while climbing down the hill, but all the photos I took of them came out to be blurry and unfocused, perhaps because I took them hastily and light level was low.
There were interesting plants around the banks as well, but I couldn't take time to observe them with attention; only species I could recognize were Phragmites australis, Phoenix dactylifera, Nerium oleander, and Vitex agnus-castus. There was a species of Lonicera but I couldn't identify exactly which species it was, and I also saw a species of Schoenoplectus, but since I know next to nothing about sedges, I don't think I would have been able to identify them even if I had time.

It was a common border and privacy hedge in the States for decades, but at least locally, the practice has gone away. They're very poisonous and have caused all kinds of problems, thanks to the similarity of its native range and here in Southern California.
But they really are spectacular growing where their home is.
