A man and his wolf
Look at where his front left paw is.
At first I thought he was pushing me away, but I later realized it was to "feel" me.

Yes... To feel closer to you. To feel my mood. He knew when I was depressed, he would beat the snot out of me till I was so distracted, I felt better. He knew when I was angry, he became stoic- letting me know how angry I was, he could get angrier (Kinda put things into perspective) He knew when I was happy, he would smile, and we would wrestle, and eat together :)
Yes, he got to go out of the hospital pen, sometimes. He always was more than willing to return to the pen. Even though there simply was no more room for an aggressive alpha like him in any of the larger enclosures in the sanctuary, his pen was his home. His territory, his land. He was king there, and we *never* had to force him to return. Concrete was later chipped away to give him a place in the earth to rest. And he did appreciate it.
One of my favorite webcomics, http://barbarianprincess.com/. While it's not furry (although it has sabretoothed cats as familiars) and I don't quite share the author's fondness of oversized Amazons, the story is funny and excellently told, with flawed heroes, villains you can both hate and respect, and strong focus on honesty and open-mindedness.
And seriously, I am fascinated by wolves as well, but never had a chance to interact with them in any close way. Your photos and descriptions show what I always thought to be their real nature.

LOL I see the resemblance XD
Yes, friend, I always wondered what their true nature was, myself. Yes, they are a certain way in the wild, but what about around people? Our best friend- the dog- is only a domesticated wolf. So what are wolves really like? This white wolf answered my questions, and was a gift from God.

If you haven't seen it already, you might like the story of this guy:

Huh, he did not like it. If I touched them he'd pull them away. I got him used to the idea of a foot massage but he hated it. He'd just barely tolerate it. His sister in the pen next to him though, she loved foot rubs and would fall asleep because the relaxed her so much, how funny.
Their paws were huge. They only let the most trusted touch them, it would be a mistake to try and touch the feet of a wolf you did not know. Their survival depends on it.
Yes, she was a very loving, very affectionate creature. unfortunately her and her mate got into scuffles a bit, so they had to be separated. I remember one day I was in there with her, and she fell into my lap, and pushed her body against my chest, I wrapped my arms around her and held her close to me, I closed my eyes, and I could literally feel her pain in my heart. It seems strange to some for me to say that, but it was true.
We both experienced a bit of healing by being so close to each other that fleeting moment.

That must have been an incredible sight, you are very fortunate to have that bond.
And you nearly made me cry with that story... first in a sad way, then in a happy way.
By this point, I can guess she recovered from her wounds and she is now ok. And I could imagine what that hug was like, just a swarm of emotions for the both of you coming all at once. I really appreciate the respect you have for each other. :)
