There are tens of thousands of forests in the world, with over 98% of them harboring a monster to protect it. These monsters are surprisingly intelligent, and are nature's perfect weapon. They're strong, fast, smart, everything a warrior needs to be, but only one of them inhabits a forest at a time. But at their core, they are gentle creatures. They will make sure no one harms their forest, but never kill who they deem innocent. ...Except breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Their diet consists mostly of small animals. ...Hey, they can't be 100% serene. As well, they will hurt ANYONE who has a gun, whether you mean to use it to hunt animals, monsters, or even just keep it around for protection. If you got a gun, they can kill you.

...However, the 2% of forests without monsters had their monsters poached. The fact that it's only 2% can confirm how tough these creatures are to kill. But the fact that ANY percent of forests lost their monster confirms that they are NOT impossible. One in particular: an Oni who poaches these creatures with his signature gun: The Monster Messiah. A gun so powerful, even the monsters cannot survive a hit from one. And these monsters are being killed for their horns. One horn is worth almost a million dollars!

Only the bravest and toughest of all monsters can survive one of those bullets, and the dude in the picture became one of those monsters. Benny and Conan try to protect the monster from the poacher, but the monster ended up protecting them. ...And the rest is history.
