Easily the most common question I get asked as an artist is 'how did you learn to draw' or 'why are you so good'? Well - have hope ladies and gentlemen because once I was hopeless. In 2004 - I was in my first year of my animation degree in one of the toughest schools in the country. You may notice I wasn't that great! Perhaps my natural charms came into play getting me that place! Either way, even by the time I LEFT uni in 2006, I wasn't actually that good - I really needed more time. Even now, some of the people who I was at uni with were better drawers in 2004 then I am NOW in 2013! Daunting isn't the word.
Simply, to get better you have to put in the time. If someone is ahead of you in ability, it it not because they are 'better' or because they are more 'artistic' they simply have drawn more MILES than YOU. The only thing you need do to start catching them up is to take that journey yourself.
Now, it has to be said that during this nine year period, I haven't been constantly drawing, I'm sure I could and should be a lot better. However, there was an eighteen month period where I couldn't face being an artist anymore. Thanks to your commissions, I am improving in leaps and bounds, and the biggest leap has really been made in the last couple of years - so thanks to you all!
The reason these pics (other then the fact these were available ones and also I couldnt find any earlier ones - I've been drawing since I was born really) is because at the time they were one of my favourite drawings I had drawn. I hope you can see the improvement as much as myself.
The images are all drawn and owned by myself
