The streets of the city were empty tonight, the moonlight that was coming in through the protective glass dome was the alternative source of light, other than the street lights and the illuminated windows. I remembered moving to this city several years back, largely to stay safe from the unending war that was plaguing the surface. I'd rather not let my mind drift to it, simply shaking the thought off as I continued walking along one of the sidewalks. Though, the thought that something eventful was going to happen tonight didn't seem to go away as easily, resulting in me lightly shaking my head several times to dislodge it.
The ground started to shake slightly, making me stumble about as my balance was lost. An earthquake? Impossible! We're on a floating island, away from the surface! The quake returned, resulting in me dropping onto my hands and knees, lest I look like a fool trying to prevent myself from falling. A third quake and it was strong enough to send me onto my side, part of the sky within view. When I saw something was off with the sky though, I craned my neck to fully look at it, freezing when I did.
There was some kind of creature pressing a paw to the dome, but…it was…much, much more massive than any other creature I have seen. It's four-toed paw was pressed against the glass, its ruby-red eyes past it seeming to shine with curiosity. Resting on its forehead was a glowing, sunlight-yellow ring, it seeming to pulse by fading in and out, a similar-colored ring around its ears. Its city-sized paw lifted from the dome, soon pressing against it again, making the city shake as I stared up at it wide-eyed.
The giant…seemed innocent enough, simply pawing the dome as its eyes continued to shine with curiosity. It soon lowered its paw down as its jaws parted slightly, the light-red muscle that resided within trailing along the glass, licking the surface of it. I couldn't help but blink, thinking that the creature saw the domed city as some kind of toy, it continuing to lick the dome a couple more times before resting a paw on its surface again. It soon lowered the paw back down, its gaze turning from the city as I guess it grew bored from it, sitting up in my spot.
If anything, I'd remember that creature for quite a long time.
