When the bait is bitten the trigger wire falls off the hanger wire releasing it and the can lid. The rubber band then pulls the can lid down over the opening, trapping the mouse inside.
Will catch mice, and rats, heck if you use a bigger can you can catch raccoons too. Use a 55 gallon drum in place of the can and catch some cats and dogs and maybe even a bear. The possibilities are limitless.

A rubber band would not hold a bear. Most big dogs would be able to get out of that too.
Mice and rats however, I can see them getting trapped in this. It's not a bad idea. However, Home Depot sells mouse traps for 99 cents. Sure they kill the mice, but there's millions of them running around and they're pests.

Dude I was kidding about the dog, cat, and bear this ain't a 55 gallon drum, it's a tin can. Just because there are alot of mice doesn't mean that their lives are any less meaningful, every mouse and rat has its own life and should be able to live it out to the fullest. And besides this trap didn't cost me anything, its made of garbage pretty much.
