I am going to do what I do with my reptiles..
DO SOME READING ON THEM BEFOR BUYING!!! They make really good pets but they are not good for young kids! They do need heat! Yes that sounds odd but haveing a heat pad hooked up to a good! thermastat to make sure your little hedgehog stays warm mostly in the winter, not so much in the summer but winter for sure big time if you live some place cold like I do here in Canada.
Make sure you have a vet close by that will look at your little pet most vets wont look at hedgehogs so make to make some calls to your vets in your town make sure you have a vet that you can get to if you ever need to go see a vet.
They do need baths, they do NEED a wheel never EVER!! Use a hamster wheel not is it to small but the gaps in the wheel hurts there feet an they run an run an move VERY fast to the point its been reported that they ripe there little toes off so make sure you can order or know a pet store that sells bucket wheels they are made for hedgehogs and are very easy to clean and gives your wee one lots of run running time at night. Please do not get one and think you can keep him or her in a hamser cage.. Even if its a large hamster cage you need at lest a guinea pig or rabbit cage or even a home made large cage with lots of space to move around and play mine will be kept in a large rabbit cage its around 4ft long an a foot deep thats lots of room for ONE hedeghog.
You also need to make sure you are able to own them where you live there are ALOT of places that ban hedgehogs so make sure you can own them befor thinking about getting one for your self.
They do like to eat bugs so treat them to crickets and meal warms every few days but not every day they are like donuts to us and you dont want a over weight hedg its not good for them to be over weight.
They are not good for a family with small kids as they do not like a laud house. If you have a family with young kids this is not the pet for your family, they are better off with a family that have older kids.
They do get alone with other pets dogs cats ext ext but they are happer being alone in a cage I have been told that some people keep two or more and they never get into a fight, but I would say keep them in there own cages it takes just seconds for something to go very very wrong and vet bills are not cheap!

Just something to think about when you are thinking about getting one your self, please do not take alot of what I said to hard they are very loveing a great animals! Make great pets just be sure you are ready to take one on and don't buy one cuz you have the money to buy one right now. Think it over, take your time and be sure to read up on them! Lots of great books and web sits out there for them and talk to breeders about them ask questons do not be afraid to ask a silly or what you think a stupid queston would be they are happy to help.
