Couple years ago sounds like first generation cintiqs, I have a second generation one, so that might why our experiences differ. It might also be that it hadn't been calibrated for your use, as you aren't really touching the screen directly with the pen anyway.
Analog mice are pretty good for making accurate lines, though. Optical mice, not so much.

Well, considering the other times I've drawn her, she's always been with a pencil, I suppose. I got the inspiration for her from this way back when I'd been drawing characters for like a year or two.
