If I am right, if I remember the Pokemon info back then, fire-type Pokemon cannot be in water since it would hurt them... er... something to that effect. XP

That never existed in the games. Fire Pokémon could safely fight in a watery environment.

Oh it wasn't about the environment but.. oh well.. I haven't played it since 2002. Oh and this was playing the oldie Blue version of the game. XD

fire types are weak to water attacks this is true, however this is mostly because of the serious temperature difference, fire types are very hot creatures, going from a somewhere just above normal creature temperature, to having a temp of over 3500 degrees.

Interesting facts. However, in some cases I would assume that a fire-type could find a way to counter-act against water before it is able to extinguish. A 3500-degree creature could easily vaporate water into harmless steam that they would not worry about. another intresting thing: Flannery's Gym in Lavaridge Town is a huge sauna, where lots of water is present, even if the gym uses Fire-type Pokémon.
