One of my personaly favourite comics that never "Got off the ground" was "The little Mice" series that chronicled the adventures of four mouse-morph children living and growing up on an Alternate Earth. Here is the first of the series featuring Kika, who has a fascination for flying.

Well, I've only seen "The Secret of NIMH" only once all the way through and I can't for the Life of me recall the song "Flying Dreams." I'll have to take your word on that. The true inspiration behind the comic was a series of kite like "Sculptures" made of colourful fabrics and wooden sticks that hung from the cieling of the Atrium in the Montclair Plaza shopping mall all through the 1980's and into the early 1990's. I had just gotten the nerve to tackle the Freeways and on my day off I decided to visit the shopping mall and treat myself to a "Little Adventure." I don't recall buying much that day, but I had a great time at the Pinball arcade, and I decided to take the big glass elevator down instead of the escalators. There I got a great view of the "Sculptures," and the idea of a kite big enough for a person to ride in popped into my head. Earlier at Con-Furence Mitch Berio challenged me to come up with comics featuring mouse characters, and on the long drive home the story sort of "Wrote itself." Viola! Mr. Foxy's creative process in action.
