yes indeed, a very good tale. Lovecraft is so far my best literal inspiration for scenery.

Lower right corner...If you take this to a finished piece, now that I look at it a second time I'm inclined to think something to break up all those vertical lines would be good. You could do it by color, but I'm betting (due to the source story) that this'd be a lot of dark greys and browns on treebark. Branches arching inward to make it more claustrophobic, maybe? Just a thought.

eh, or I could just vary the sway of the trees to be more contrastingly gnarly in shape and branch flow. If I decide to polish them up. ^^
