I have actually experimented with that at my workbench, but I dislike the false look. I have seen vacume tubes actually work in the televisions they came from and there is no compairison. the glow comes from a heating element inside the tube. without sufficient power the element will not light. those of us old enough, know the difference. I know these things are just for fun, but, to me, its just not the same.
