Cold. That was the first sensation. Never mind the debris, the howl of the wind, or the pressure of the exit hatch pinning him against his seat- All he could focus on was the sudden change in temperature, like being ripped from an easy chair by the fire into a blustery snowstorm outside. But warmth soon returned as he felt his snout cradled from below with a hot, wet presence pressing firmly on his chin and neck. A sharper sensation on his snout followed, but any pain disappeared with a toasty, poutine-scented blast of breath that surrounded his snout and rushed down the front of his neck. Before he could lift the exit hatch off of his lap, two massive arms pulled him tight against soft flannel. The next thing he saw was the airplane above him before seeing a strange, toothy beast, with arms outstretched expectantly. The warmth from the beast's breath was replaced by a giddy, electrifying sensation that spread from his head to his arms, as he felt them pulled back at a gentle angle. He tried to look down at his legs, but his head lifted upwards and seemed to extend away from his shoulders. The air rushing over his smoother and more streamlined body was no longer alarming, but somehow reassuring, as if he needed air to run over him. His legs felt just as tight as his torso and arms, but now when he wiggled his toes, he could move in the direction he wanted to! The ground under him stopped coming closer, and instead, moved under him as he angled what he thought were his toes and fingertips, feeling his body rise a bit into the night sky. From his back he felt the same warm, powerful presence from before, squeezing his fuselage gently as he continued to grow more and more outward. As he tried to catch his breath, he felt his self somehow able to inhale and exhale at the same time, and the squeezing from this back increased as soared on his own power for what must have been hours.
The next day, he awoke on an abandoned runway in the middle an old WWII training base outside of Ottawa, with only a scant memory of what had happened. Unbelieving, he found his way back home...
...the next month, he returned to the runway, driven by an inexplicable desire to recount what had happened. Somehow the feeling became more urgent as the weeks wore on. He walked to the runway centerline and stood there, as it felt "right," somehow. As the feeling intensified, he noticed a medium-sized catman walking towards him, but with each step he grew wider and wider, with his teeth turning from rounded to pointy. But by then he was already looking back down the centerline, blushing, as he felt himself fall forward onto a round, rubbery object connected to his self.
This time, he felt the beast inside of him, flicking switches and pressing buttons that had all of his systems lit up and on-line. Finally, a firm paw descended onto his throttles and pushed them to their limits, rocketing the aircraft down the runway and into the night sky.
