I kind of used your character as a shading style guinea pig...I hope it doesn't show too much.
It was also a challenge for me because I don't think I'd ever seriously tried to draw a raccoon before, so I definitely learned something in the process.

That's probably true.
The pose changed a bit because at first I had him looking at what he just blew up, taking in a big lungful from the cigarette (you know, with his hand all cramped, like a real addict), but then I thought it covered too much of his face and changed his head position... I left the hand where it was because a) I'm lazy and b) I figured it might pass for visual storytelling, if you squint really hard.

This peice is really awesome it should have tons of more comments and faves!
The only critique i have is that none of the smoke is overlapping the charter at all. Like where the cigarette is, there should be smoke coming from it that goes over the gun. It looks like theres supposed to be smoke coming from the mouth of the gun. so the far inside part should have smoke on top of it to show that its escaping the gun (sorry if it's not meant to be!)
