This is one of the first drawings I remember making that I was really proud of.
This was drawn circa 1990ish-1992ish (my best guess) which would make me...11ish-13ish years old. Scorch was my go to "mutant" character I made up. This was during my Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle phase (with some leftover residue from Battle Beasts*), but rather than just one kind of mutant animal Scorch was THREE in one! The three most awesome animals I could think of at the time: the body of a Komodo Dragon, the tail and teeth of a Thresher shark, and the wings of a Dragonfly.
I remember thinking how cool it would be to make a fighting video game of all our (my sister, cousin and I) mutants. we even drew a "character select screen" with each of us drawing a mug shot of our characters in a square. We played that a lot.
*I loved my Battle Beasts toys, but only after I got over the initial disappointment of finding out how small they were. From the commercials I thought they would be Masters of the Universe sized. By the time I realized they were cool anyway they were starting to disappear from store shelves. I was lucky my parents were able to get the ones they did.
