Well, tracing isn't gonna help. I think the best way to learn is to just practice. Anything takes practice, especially birds. Eventually you will get better. What I would suggest is drawing circles over an image to try to get a very approximate idea of how the bird is constructed in 3D space. Birds are mainly one circle for the head, then an oval for the body, then connected, depending on how their neck works. Then you can get better over time. But tracing is not the way to go. Tracing is practically plagiarism and you don't actually learn anything from it!

You can tell pretty much you traced it because the bird's foot is the same even without the worm which makes it pretty glaring...
