some good did come out of it though, while most of the B-17s were cut up for scrap, some, including this one, fought forest fires out west up until the 80's

I know someone that used to work with a guy who was a b25 pilot. he got shot down over Germany and was captured. he said to this day he doesn't know what happened to the bombardier.

yes, very much so. this is from the Collings Foundation, which tours the US with a B17, a B25, and a B24.

There are only two in flying condition.
Canada has one that has been adapted to carry passengers in the bomb bay so its not original. The RAF operates one in complete original standard... is the only proper Lanc still flying.

There are at least 2 others over here that can taxi and efforts are under way to get them flying again ^^

The RAFs Battle Of Britian Memorial flight operates the lanc, a dakoda, 4 (or 5) spits and 2 Hurricanes (both originals) plus two chipmunks XD
