Olympiads - Character Lighting test WIP
More lighting tests with messed up roughly slapped on texture maps (I will fix it). Sometimes I like to test lighting and textures/colours at the same time to make sure they are all working together. By the way, if anyone has any good ideas on how to render out fake but believable looking fur in Maya, I am all ears. I've been trying a bunch of options and can't decide how best to handle the issue of fur.

Thanks, I'm glad you like it. I've been getting a lot of notes about the teeth being too far in. Luckily the teeth are rigged so moving them is really easy as I don't have to change the model to do it. And yeah, feel free to send me a note whenever if you want to talk commissions.
If you're using a displacement map, maybe noise might work, somethin like that; honestly not sure how to pull off fur unless it's set in a certain way/not dynamic. On the plus side, I get that AutoDesk is pushing the Cloud Rendering, not sure if it'll be for Maya users quite yet, though!

Yeah, they don't have that for maya yet which kind of sucks. Hopefully I'll have enough time to render everything out and get the fur looking right. I'll try your noise idea though because I definitely need to change something. I just tested some shots where he' lit from the front, and he looks way to much like plastic. Thanks for the ideas
Thanks for pointing that out, those actually don't show up in the final render because his wrists are cover by these leather gauntlet-esque things. They're not here because the rig file I was referencing was from a slightly older file so they didn't show up. So those seams wont be in the final images. This work in progress check was just to see how the lighting was working with the design.
