This is for a comic idea I have had for about a year now, and hope to start later in the year. Thought to post it here if anyone was interested in reading it later:
Top Row, left to right:
Naiads:
-Live near rivers, streams, ponds, and lakes. They are characterized by long, oily fur, long flat tails and feet, and webbed toes and fingers. Their tails and flat feet make them excellent swimmers, and although they have wings they are not good at flying. Wings allow them to glide, fly short distances at relatively fast speeds, as well as create extra push while in the water.
-Generally are brown, green, or blue in color, however, can be any multitudes of colors due to species mixing and fur dyes. Their backs and tops are a darker color than their bellies to help camouflage while swimming.
Fun facts:
-Females have two sets of wings, the top being smaller than the bottom.
-They have a third eye-lid to protect their eyes while under water.
Dryads:
-Live in forests and mixed areas. Characterized by opposable thumbs on their feet and being furred. They are excellent climbers and runners, and are built as excellent predators. Very adaptable to location.
-Come in many sizes and shapes depending on their location.
Fun facts:
-Have retractable claws.
-Most abundant species.
-Females have two sets of wings, males only have one.
Oceanids:
-Found in the oceans. Characterized by long, slender bodies, slick, shiny scales, fins on head, tail, legs, arms, and back, and large eyes. They are rarely seen by land dwellers, but sometimes can be observed off the coast lines or, on even rarer occasions, in rivers. They travel in pods of usually no less than 3. All have very large eyes with no observable whites. They are very cumbersome on land despite having legs, so they don't spend a lot of time on shore.
-Can be found in a range of colors.
Fun facts:
-Spots on their scales form their own light and glow in dark areas.
-Have very sharp teeth, some have more than one row.
-Can send signals through clicks and pick them up from 20-30 miles away.
-When submerged, legs can be merged with their tails to reduce drag.
Bottom row, left to right:
Oreads:
-Found atop the mountains and cliffs. Characterized by large horns atop their heads, long, fluffy fur, large manes that extend from their heads down their backs to their tails, hooked talons, and low hanging ears. They are excellent flyers and climbers, with a lot of upper body strength. They live in a tribal culture, and non-advanced life style. This often gives the other species the misconception that they are uncivilized, monstrous, and brutish.
-Come in a variety of colors.
Fun facts:
-Since their wings are not fully developed, Oreads cannot completely fly until they are adults. Children can hover for moments at a time and teens can glide fairly far.
-Despite not being able to fly, Oreads are able to poison and/or have the ability to breathe fire from birth. This makes them highly dangerous as youngsters.
-Seeing this, it is a very good thing that they are immune to each other's fire and poison in its early stages.
Angels:
-Location is unknown. They are characterized by feathered wings and bodies, as well as long feathered tails. Talons adorn their feet and hands.
-In society, depending on their type they are classified into different groups: Warriors, messengers, assassins, recon, and other. Most in the 'other' category have no special designation, and work normal jobs.
-Depending on their type, they come in a variety of different colors and somewhat different shapes.
Fun Facts:
-Children are called 'fledglings'
-Fledglings don't have tail feathers yet, instead they have large fluffs of downy feathers.
-Can fly at high speeds of up to 200 mph
-Thought to be a creature of myth.
Demons:
-Location is unknown. Characterized by furless bodies, horns, and black sclera. Have clawed hands and feet, which have opposable toes.
-Are usually dark colors, however there are some exceptions.
Fun facts:
-Can magically merge their wings into their bodies, only leaving a tattoo image upon their backs.
-Usually have some sort of markings designating clans and such,
There is one species missing here that is quite important, but I want to save this for a different image where I can explain them altogether, since they are quite important to the story as a whole.
