Just a bit of a personal piece to get some concept out of my head from an old idea for an industrial fantasy setting I never really managed to get myself to do much with.

"Entschlossen" then, so yes, little typo.
Hehe, I'll admit, I've got a last name that also starts with the "sch" and the way it's been pronounced sometimes has been entertaining. Fairly often I've heard people start with the S, then pronounce the C as a K, and falter when they hit the H. Also have had an L tossed it there surprisingly frequently (there aren't any L's in the name). I figure it's all in good fun, though.
Haven't had much exposure to French, myself. It's a bit of a softer(?) language than I'm used to, but pretty.

I guess I could say it is. Sadly I speak the french canadian version of it which is to say that(at least in some people's eyes) I speak the version of french that is for european french what hillbilly redneck texan english is to british english ^^;
At least according to some varied people(to be fair, even within the province of Quebec alone, despite a population of only 8 millions, there is about a dozen different accent depending on the region one comes from).

Hehe, well they're different dialects really. I can't speak to the British perspective, but for us Yanks (I guess that's the appropriate term? I'm not really sure) British English is kind of inexplicably more refined. Which isn't to say that the levels of "refinement" of dialects within the US don't exist, because they do... they're just a little trickier for me, personally, to generalize about.
As far as I can tell, at least insofar as writing is concerned, people don't make much of a fuss about it unless you mix styles. I speak regularly enough with friends in Europe and elsewhere that use the British spellings and sometimes it rubs off a bit. For example, I type "realise" and spellcheck says it's wrong, when the Yank version is spelled "realize." Nevermind that if I run across a word I'm unsure of the pronunciation of, I tend to go by the German rules - which has had mixed results. First time I came across "sieve" for example, I pronounced it "seev" instead of "siv" and when I was corrected (it was an English class, so I really should have expected that, considering). I responded with, "Well seev sounds better." It rather surprised me when they let it go. Either way, I'm at least a little familiar with the weird accent thing. ^^;
