Funny, in Pathfinder, while for the most part insane, Ghouls are among the smarter varieties of undead, having a decent intelligence. They even have a civilization.

yeah so i read in the monster manual for pathfinder. I rather prefer the beastial starved undeads.

Oh yeah, that is about 80% of ghouls. I remember an encounter with a particularly pathetic one in Pathfinder Society, that was a former Pathfinder. While Ghouls are pretty smart on average, patient they ain't. The Ghoul city of Nemret Noktoria is more a reference to Lovecraft's city of ghouls, and they have the largest population of non-ferals. One of my favorite encounters, one of the two I have actually lost a character to, was against a ghast (stronger ghoul) cleric and several ghoul minions that were sealed in a tomb for thousands of years.

one thing pathfinder dissapointed med with was how low of a threat the draugr was. cr 2 or 3 i think. I think they whould be on the same level as a vampire atleast.

I was about to make a Ghast to. who in my work whould lookd like a feral vampire like being, since in my mythos they are lowly creatures cursed with a fragment of vampires as they where pepole the vampire loathed in particular.
