I read that in a dog book I recently bought, too--I think it's also illegal to dock their ears as well (as not all Dobermans have the erect ears, too--some of them are flat and puppy-ish).

yeah that's right.
I don't think it's that bad but i guess it is un natural.

It does change the way we, as humans, look at the breed...since the familiar sight of docked ears and tail is unnatural, but that how we think of them.
