During the exploration and tournament, Trip is voted item master, mostly because he's the most viable and largest 'bag' to store most of the parties' items. He realizes on his ablity to store and recall items and weapons on the fly from within the void he created in his belly. However this still inflates his girth the more he stores.
He was voted leader cause his name came up in the drawing.
