I use to work at Hot Topic. They said I could draw my own badge but it had to contain my legal name (or a variation therefore) on it. The looks of puzzlment abounded durinbg my short stay of employment there. Can you imagine? Here I am, nearly completely passing, and then Boom, "Mandy". I had people assume they read it wrong and called me "Manny" or some other masculine variant of "Mandy". Good times Good times. Not. Embarassment abounded as much as puzzlement.
