Darn straight I remember love!! XD
Sure, there may have been better Anime movies, but to me, Macross was IT!
Sry 'bout the non-furryness. But it was an idea I just HAD to get out. ^_^

Make triply sure that you are watching it subtitled, not in the old Australian-made dub. It makes all the difference. Also, make it a point to watch part 1, as it explains the roots of all of this.
Part three was, for me, a letdown. While visually spectacular, I felt very much betrayed by the ending, more specifically, betrayed by the character of Shogo, considering his roots. To become so authoritarian, when he started out a punk and a rebel. It's just so opposite. Losing Eve in the end, though, that I understood: stepping aside to make room for the new, and to prevent the cycle from continuing. Painful, but needed.

Oh yeah, I couldn't believe Shogo would become something like that either!
Although, I think there was a purpose to it, because isn't that what humans do to any "founding father?" Removing all human faults and weakness, so that what is remembered is more memorial than man. Even Eiji was all like- "lend me Shogo's strength!" XD I seem to recall, Shogo got his butt kicked every time he was in a 1 on 1 battle like that! Heh.
It also leads me to ask, can humanity survive without a system like that? If a unified group of people is a society, and society is a system- is it even avoidable? Would Shogo have sacrificed his own free will, to insure everyone else's survival? Is that what a Leader should do?
Sry, I really tend to overthink this stuff, you know?

No, not overthought at all. In fact, that is, in the end, what the MZ23 series is supposed to MAKE you do: think abo0ut what makes us work the way we do, and whether we should follow it blindly, challenge it, strike out on our own for something new and untried, or strike a balance between those and maybe other options I haven't listed or considered.
Oh, very. The Garland and Hargun series of mechabikes were VERY nice, including the military hover-Garland type. My personal favorite was the Wilde-Sau, the evil big non-transformable design B.D. used near the end of Part 2. Gods was that thing over-armed and just damn chunky GORGEOUS!
