Pfff. Obviously you haven't met the "me" of my High Schools days, then. Where I had no friends for nearly three years. Because nobody wants to give attention to some strange guy in their class who has problems speaking up to people, because he's afraid of how they'll treat him for having opinions on things.
Of course most people don't want to associate with that one guy who doesn't have any friends, because people are assholes, plain and simple. All they care about is getting in with the popular crowd and, really, it's not worth attempting to play their game, because their game is never going to fit in with your own game. It takes time, but you have to give yourself the patience to find the right people - the ones who will adore talking to you about anything, because you just "click" with them. Sometimes it takes a few years, but you have to be patient. If you grow too frustrated about it, it's only going to drive people even further away... ^^;
