The blue bori was stared at for a good amount of time, before the human inspecting her turned and left. Only a few moments later, a grumpy pound employee, and that human returned. The bori was pulled from the cage by her tail, and she had learned long ago that protesting got her nowhere, so she simply whimpered, but otherwise stayed quiet.
She walked to the front with what she assumed was her new owner, and the rather low fee was passed over the counter. After a less than pleasant stay in the pound, she was free again! She smiled some, following her owner. She was a good pet, and was unsure why she had been given up in the first place... what had she done wrong? Oh well. It didn't matter anymore!
The pair eventually entered a simple home, where a rainbow Lenny greeted them... The bird grinned, which made the Bori nervous. Their owner, who she found out later was called Toby, introduced the Lenny as Dusk, and the Bori introduced herself to the both of them as Jezzrell. Dusk's grin broke, and he laughed.
"You picked it for its name, didn't you?" Jezz was taken aback... She was not an it, and the Lenny spoke as though she wasn't there, but Toby nodded absently. She was digging for something in a drawer. Eventually, she came out with what looked like a long, thick needle, and a metallic tube. She approached Jezz and motioned for her to come, and she obeyed.
"Now, hun, this is going to hurt." The Bori closed her eyes, readying herself for... Whatever her owner was going to do to her.
She felt the girl's hand on her left ear, then a slight pinch as the needle was steadied against the tender flesh inside... She whimpered loudly again as it broke through. She could smell her own blood. It wasn't a smell she was unfamiliar with, thanks to her stay in the pound. She sighed softly, thinking she was done. She tensed again, though, as she felt the needle slide out of her ear, which made her shiver and groan... The word "unpleasant" being the best to describe it. She felt the point trace through the fur in her ear, drawing closer to the pointed end, steadying, then punching through a second time. Her ear had become numb by that point, but it was still uncomfortable.
Toby pulled away, setting the needle on the desk beside her, then brought that metal tube out of her pocket. Jezz watched, curious as to what it was. Toby pulled it open, the thin hinge at the side seeming sturdy enough. Carefully, Toby eased the pair of points on the band into the new holes in her ear, then snapped it shut. It locked into place, and the Bori knew it.
The thing was heavy, and smelled weird, but she had learned, again, from the pound, not to complain.
She wasn't aware of this, but engraved in the metal of her new earring was 001, and she had absolutely no idea what was in store for her...
Oh look a thing.. oops. I didn't feel like re-reading this, so sorry if it's awful...
