Bitter Sweet Acceptance -Chapter 12
She was taken to a room. It looked like a regular daycare center. Many cubs her ages and older played as if nothing seemed to bother them. One of them cried. What looked like a male lion, picked him up and carried of him while babbling about a diaper change. As if it hasn't happened already, a weird vibe washed over Aura.
She looked for Rune. He wasn't anywhere in sight.
"Is dis da waitin' woom?" she asked.
"No," Joyce answered,"This is where everyone goes to play, honey."
"Is daddy awright?"
"He is just fine."
They continued to go through a pair of double doors. She saw a glimpse of someone familiar walk in the hallway outside of the room they strolled through. She had identical features as to what Aura had, but she only saw the back.
"...Mommy?" she asked. The double doors closed behind them.
Joyce and Aura were all alone, now.
"It's cowd in here," Aura stated.
"It's just so we could take care of a few things. You'll be dressed in some warm jammies once you complete the test," Joyce responded.
She sat the grey husky on a soft blanket on a cold metal table. Joyce bent down and pulled out some large flash cards.
"You can covew a compoota' scween wif da," Aura commented.
Joyce chuckled. "I never thought about that," she said.
The Babe pulled up a chair and sat down. She pulled out a card with an apple on it.
"Alright. What's this?"
"An apple."
"Good. What's this?"
Joyce pulled out a card with a blue crayon on it.
"It's a cwayon."
"What color?"
"Bwue."
She shuffled through the card for a moment. Aura sat there awaiting for the next card. She felt so confident.
As soon as this was over, she can learn a bit more of what situation she is in. Joyce pulled out a "1+2" card.
"How many is this?" She paused.
'Why can't I remember what the answer is? I know know this!' she said in her thoughts. Joyce didn't seem like she was in any hurry. Aura sat still and tried to think about it some more. Nothing came to her mind. She made an educated guess.
"Uhm...7?"
Joyce nodded with a blank expression. Aura's ear drooped.
"Just a few more and we're done, pumpkin."
"...Okay."
"Who was the first president of the united states."
"...Tinky-winky?"
"Two more. What does this word say?"
She held up a word that said "Cat".
"...Elephant."
Aura yawned. Joyce put away for cards.
"And what is this?"
Aura squealed," Mr. Bear!!" She reached out for her bear.
"Did I do gweat?"
"Just how we had hoped," she replied petting her head,"Are you ready to ask us questions?"
Aura simply nodded,"Yes, miss nuwse."
Joyce smiled.
"Come in!" She yelled.
Rune walked in. Someone else walked in behind him. Aura's little smile was wiped off of her face when she noticed the familiar person from earlier appear.
"...M-mommy?"
"Yes, dear. It's mommy."
